IPT is a structured psychotherapy normally offered over 12-18 sessions depending on the needs of the client.
Psychotherapy is less structure and can be short or long term, from a piece of work undertaken in 6 weeks or long term ongoing support.
Sessions need not be weekly and frequency can be negotiated between client and therapist.
